Graphical Manipulations #12: Horses, Rumour, Corruption & Prophecy

In the week where that great Federal Parliament of Australia is in recess, and the wind sighs gently through the empty Parliament House car park, the empty offices, and the empty promises, there’s not a great deal of angst and hype, or political ructions for that matter.  You have to scratch around to find something warranting comment, except of course the US of A election.  Hopefully we will never reach the point where our elections are like theirs.  The more you see and absorb of their democracy and their culture the more you become convinced that it really ain’t – a proper democracy that is!  Anyhow, more locally, this week we’ve seen;

Nathan Tinkler (he of the financial problems) get dumped on by his trainer who let it be known that horse’s were forced to go without food because Tinkler was unable to pay suppliers.  And to top it off, apparently, his racing and breeding company have been kicked out of a private training facility because the property owner is sick of the rent being late.  Is there no end to it all?

Perfidious rumours are circulating in the NO Coalition of a possible, perhaps, maybe, there’s a few thoughts around, challenge to the incumbency of Tony Abbott as leader of the opposition (thoroughly hyped by the media of course), but, it would seem, more in the vein of a Monty Python sketch:  There shall in that time be rumours of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things with the sort of raffia-work base, that has an attachment.  At that time, a friend shall lose his friend’s hammer, and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight o’clock”.  But at least we can be confident that Tony will be well prepared;

And, an Australian National University study found that Australians view media, unions and political parties as the most corrupt institutions in the country.  So you have to wonder how that might affect those who’ve worked in such institutions;

Finally, we’ve had Tony Abbott bring forth the prophecy that when himself and his NO Coalition are the Federal Government of the land of Oz they will bring forth three successive surpluses.  Not one, not two, but three surpluses;

And of course, we have the usual ending:  “If there was ever an individual so totally undeserving of high office then that person is, unquestionably, Tony Abbott.  We don’t need a negative, 19th century trogdolyte as Prime Minister of this country.”

Postscript:  Obama has retained the Presidency of the United States of America, and with apologies to Winnie here’s my view of the outcome;
