Graphical Manipulations #67: Years End. And A Reprise!

Well here it is, New Year’s Eve and a bedraggled Western 2013 staggers towards the exit whilst a youthful 2014 awaits in the wings for its year of glory (or not), and in a month’s time the exhausted Snake will give way to the young and sprightly Horse and a Kong Hee Fat Choy!.  It therefore seems fitting to do a bit of a reprise (this time without the Rat) and identify what were my favourite graphic manipulations for the year.  I didn’t realise just how many there were, some 483 of the little buggers!  No wonder I was accused of spending forever on the computer (thanks to Smoothdraw 3.0 for its able assistance).  So for better or for worse, and as a welcome overture to 2014 here are 14 of those 483 which most tickled my funny bone or put a cynically satirical slant on Australian politics, as I see it.  There’s also a fifteenth which I’ve included as a couple of readers consider it one of my better works, and, you have to keep the reader happy, eh?

So, not in any particular order except for the last couple. We’ve got our paraprosdokian Joe Hockey;

Argue Idiot Hockey

And my view of the idiot who asked me if I’d voted for the NO Coalition;

Coalition Support

And this about the person who aspired to be the Prime Minister of this country and presented to the Australian voter the true mediocrity of the NO Coalition.  I’d have PM Credlin any day, but then she’s a woman, isn’t she (and we know what happens to them when they aspire to the top post);

Controlled Abbott

And how we might be viewed by Bos taurus domesticus;

Cows are stupid

How those who considered persona non grata by the NO Coalition might best be dealt with under the New Order;

Grand Vision Fire

How Brainstorm Scott Morrison gets all those THREE WORD SLOGANS (I just love OPERATION SOVEREIGN STUPIDITY);

Morrison brainstorm

How I felt on that day of infamy;

No Coalition Surprise

And what we got because Labor behaved like idiots and let more idiots onto the Government benches;

PM Jackpot

And to the Bill Shorten, the slime bucket who ably assisted in crippling Labor and rose to Opposition Leader from the rubble;

Shorten Songs a Sing

And the tragedy that is the NO Coalition government;

The Innumerates

We had a bit of a dig at the restoration of Kevin Rudd when Bill Shorten and his merry dissemblers panicked over the atrocious polling;

Turbulent Rudd

We were also particular pleased that women of calibre having babies were to be feather-bedded by the NO Coalition.  And those ‘not of calibre’?  Get of ya butts and get a job!

Woman of calibre 2

We just loved the suppositories of wisdom!  See what happens when you mishear the words coming from the earpiece Tony;

Wisdom Suppositories

And after 100 days of the NO Coalition, all the stuff-ups, both diplomatic and other, the decline in the polls, we wondered whether Joe Hockey (he of the lost it by one vote [probably Peter Slippers]) might be thinking (this one was favourited by a couple of erstwhile readers);

Watched Abbott

And that’s the fourteen to ring in the New Year, I’ve added my favourite which arose after listening to the tedious Morrison’s THREE WORD SLOGANS and the discovery that there were undetected asylum seekers ON THE BEACH at Christmas Island while Scotty was doing his arrogant puffery;

Coalition Seals

And finally, the most appropriate THREE WORD SLOGAN for this last post of 2013,

Postscript:  All characters appearing in this work are entirely, and amazingly, fictitious.  Any resemblance to real persons, living, dead or in a zombie like state, is purely coincidental with an exceptionally high probability of being the construct of a deluded mind trying to grasp the true meaning of the political unreality of Australian politics, al la NO Coalition!  We can only gaze upon such greatness with wonderment!

About deknarf

Australian born and bred who has spent most of his working life in R&D and IP management with earlier forays in the newspaper industry and martial arts. Fortunate enough to be living in one of the best countries in the World, even though I might get grumpy with it from time to time.

    Thank you for the reprise, deknarf. 🙂 Do hope you have a wonderful New Year. Unfortunately, I fear the coming 2014 will provide you with plenty of GMs from this woeful Coalition government.

      Thanks Joy. One lives in hope and given the NO Coalition’s performance to date I expect not to be disappointed! 😉

        Deknarf, I believe you are correct. Think this miserable government will just get worse. 😦

  2. A great re-cap of the years posts D. and once again brought a smile to my dial (never an easy thing to do on a Tuesday morning) I agree wholeheartedly with your appraisal of Shorten (by the way, is that the Paul Anka version of Lonely Boy – or the MPD version? Always liked the MPD version myself) And where did you get that photo of Tony with the pineapples? Prophetic to say the least, and he’s certainly giving us all the rough end particularly with this ridiculous proposal to pay $5 levy when you visit your local MD. Keep up the good work! Look forward to more GM’s in 2014
    Xing Nein Hau (Happy New Year)
