Graphical Manipulations #81: Anachronisms, Titles, Budgets, Puppets, The Rat, And Politics!

The Western Australian voters have spoken (again) and the Senate re-election count drags its way slowly to a conclusion.  The NO Coalition is busy saying that they weren’t surprised at the swing against them and it won’t make any difference to their policy settings (Oh yeh?).  The Labor party, after putting a dope at the head of their Senate ticket, is busy telling everyone why they shouldn’t have done such a stupid thing and that they need to change (Oh Yeh?).  And the winners?  It looks like Palmer and his PUP’s as well as the Greens (OHHH YEH!) are celebrating the fact that the two major parties, blissfully uncaring about the views of the voter, shot themselves in the foot by showing their basic uncaringness and their massive monocular focus on themselves and their self-interest and ably assisted a couple more wild cards into the Senate from July 1.  Two observations:

The next couple of years should be very interesting as the Senate endeavours to demonstrate that they truly are ‘unrepresentative swill’, and
If there are people around looking to form a centralist political party which puts people and country above free-marketeering capitalistic profiteering, they should form up NOW! Crikey, I’d even vote for them, or actually stand for a seat, so thoroughly disgusted I am with the NO Coalition and Labor offerings.
Not being a rant I’ll not rage about how both parties have relegated Australia to the backwaters of the burgeoning Asia Pacific economy and just continued along the time worn path that we’ll always be a successful mine and agriculture supplier to all and sundry.  I’ll probably be a pile of ashes, somewhere, by the time we end up as the Poor White Trash of Asia thanks to our political morons, but I’m still angry that that’s where Australia will end up – unless we get some real politicians and some really innovative policies to Advance Australia Fair!!

And that made me think of anachronisms which immediately gave rise to;

Two Anachronisms

And royalty of the secular and spiritual kind led to thoughts about titles, and that naturally led to thinking about Titular Bits.  It was nice to see that Mathias Cormann had been caught out padding the sofa and a kniggethood was immediately applied;

Hyperbole Cormann

And poor Arfur Sinodinos was having a real problem with recollections.  However he was still compos mentus enough to collect his $200,000 per annum director fees and that led to;

Forgetful Sinodinos

Who could possibly neglect our Treasurer who’s been looking suitably serious about the suitably serious budget emergency as he seeks to ‘fix the books’.  A kniggethood is definitely de rigeur for Mr Eleventy under such seriously difficult circumstances;

Sur Reality Hockey

Fiscal emergencies and consideration of the budgetary preparations as our NO Coalition seeks to take from the poor to give to the richly entitled whilst demonstrating budgetary rectitude left a feeling that all that huffy puff seriousness might just be a tad piscine, so to speak;

Budget Fishiness

Thinking of our Tony Abbott and perusing an article about Peta Credlin in the Sydney Morning Herald’s ‘Good Weekend’ give rise to thoughts about just who is governing us?  That, along with the jerky . . . ahhh . . . presentation, . . .ahh . . . presentation style of our great leader convinced me that is wasn’t Tony and led to;

Puppetry Abbott

And then The Rat came back, with his usual light-hearted observations of the political hurly burly of the week.  He was pleased that Tony was fully cognisant of the ‘old bugger’s demographic and that it needed a bit of a grapple;

Final Solution Rat

Joe Hockey’s hard decisions, heavy lifting, and reality dealing (like Kakadu dreaming but different) impressed;

Hockey Reality Rat

Rat just couldn’t resist being impressed by Arthur Sinodinos’ ability to ‘not recollect’ much at all really, but was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt about his apparent use of the Bond defence; “I can’t remember/recall/recollect that”, and put it all down to Conservative mantras rotting his brain;

Remembering Rat

He was even more impressed by Tony Abbott’s firm belief that the West Australian voters wouldn’t fall for Clive Palmer’s vote buying attempt.  Tony they don’t call us ‘Sand Groper’s for nothing;

Vote Buying Rat

And when you look at all the opinions proffered by the winners and losers, which all indicate that they were all winners, and that it was, obviously, someone else’s fault then you begin to realise that Australian politics is, well . . . ahh . . . ummm . . . .

Realisation Dawns

And that led to thinking about political conservatism and that gave rise to;

Calm Conservative Hypocrisy

Afterthought:  This NO Coalition Government is trashing the good standing of Australia.  It cares little about its people in its fanatical pursuit of ultra-conservative ideology.  It is using the weapons of minority xenophobia, the secret fears and uncertainty of the general public and blatant propaganda, aided by a complaisant media, to turn this country into something is has never been – bigoted, racist, xenophobic, selfish, self-indulgent, self-obsessed, uncaring and a disgrace to all those things that have made Australia a great country! Tolerance, mateship, community, fairness, honesty and a love of freedom in both speech and expression!

Postscript:  All characters appearing in this work are entirely, and amazingly, fictitious.  Any resemblance to real persons, living, dead or in a zombie like state, is purely coincidental with an exceptionally high probability of being the construct of a deluded mind trying to grasp the true meaning of the political unreality of Australian politics, al la NO Coalition!  We can only gaze upon such greatness with wonderment!
