Graphical Manipulations #82: Resignations, Clubs, The Rat, And Just Joking!

Jesus!!   Or is that JESUS!!  I go on an 18 day holiday to examine the “Country of the Restless Dragon” and the whole place goes to hell in a hand cart.  And, to top it off, the hand cart has been attached to a couple of wild horses who have totally run amok!  Well, it is the Year of the Horse I guess.  Just what have you people been doing while I was gone??  China was fun, interesting and illuminating by the way, but more of that in a Traveller’s Tales in the not too distant future.  Plus a rant about Sydney Airport! Ooooooooohh!!

One of the blessings in leaving this country for another is that the moment you get beyond the Australian coast this underpopulated Land of Oz ceases to be of any particular relevance at all really, at least to the rest of the world.  We disappear from the news and not too many people look knowingly at you when you respond “Australia” to the question; ‘where do you come from?’  The best you get on TV is Bloomberg (Boring) or CNN (BOOORRRRRRING), and the only thing of interest to them was the disappearance of the Malaysian aircraft, the sinking of the Korean ferry and the Ukraine whilst we were Terracotta Warrioring and Great Walling.  Oh and a bit of business news and a lot of sports news thrown in just to fill the time in, interminably repeated!

We returned on the 3rd to the righteous indignation and the woeful and pathetic cries of a populace sorely injured by the perjury, shiftiness and promissory waivers of the Prime Embarrassment and his NO Coalition.  Surprised we are since there’s been a large number of people, ‘umble self included, warning those who would listen that electing the NO Coalition would be a mistake to horrendous to contemplate.  Did you listen? No, you didn’t!!  Is it contemplatively horrendous?  Yes, it is!! So ‘suck it up’. ‘prepare to do some heavy lifting’, ‘call up your arms’ and ‘grin and bear it’ especially if you are not of the elite, in mining, banking, or unable to pay a sufficiently large amount of largess to a ruling politician to have you particular little self interest protected from the impending NO Coalition slash and burn.

And now for a few GM’s given that we are still catching up with the news (good, bad, oh! And horrendous!).

Given that there seems to be a large number of politicians resigning, or stepping aside whilst a few trivial issues of corruption are clarified, it seemed that this little graphic might fill the void, so to speak;

Vanishing Pollies

And of course there was Joe’s little club for those with a few bucks to spare and a vested interest.  We thought we could improve things a tad;

Joes Cosy Club

PS: If you pay with a credit card that also has QFF points associated you’ll double the value, eh?

Naturally talking of corruption and pestilence, and general filthiness was just too much for The Rat, and he had to put in his rather jaundiced view of the going’s on with a quick comment on miners and diesel fuel;

Mining Diesel Rat

Oh to be a fly on the wall during that conversation.

A bit of bemusement on the concordant duplicity of “hatching a corrupt scheme” and holding the position of Police and Justice Minister;

Gallacher Resign Rat

As well as the NO Coalition’s novel and innovative approach in applying conscription to earnings;

Call to Arms Rat

And, finally, on just how long mummy and daddy will be supporting their offspring in this Brave New World that the Prime Embarrassment and his NO Coalition have planned for us;

Newstart Rat

All these ‘going’s on’ raised the question ‘surely this is all just a big joke’ and then in the realisation that it wasn’t, the question became;

Just Joking

But we ‘stiffed our upper lip’ and drew upon our inner reservoir of fatalistic optimism and thought;

Calm Getting Worse

And apparently for the Armed Forces of this country it certainly appears so;

Serve Your Country

And there you have it!

Afterthought:  This NO Coalition Government is trashing the good standing of Australia.  It cares little about its people in its fanatical pursuit of ultra-conservative ideology.  It is using the weapons of minority xenophobia, the secret fears and uncertainty of the general public and blatant propaganda, aided by a complaisant media, to turn this country into something is has never been – bigoted, racist, xenophobic, selfish, self-indulgent, self-obsessed, uncaring and a disgrace to all those things that have made Australia a great country! Tolerance, mateship, community, fairness, honesty and a love of freedom in both speech and expression!

Postscript:  All characters appearing in this work are entirely, and amazingly, fictitious.  Any resemblance to real persons, living, dead or in a zombie like state, is purely coincidental with an exceptionally high probability of being the construct of a deluded mind trying to grasp the true meaning of the political unreality of Australian politics, al la NO Coalition!  We can only gaze upon such greatness with wonderment!

    Good to see you back, Deknarf, firing on all cylinders after having survived the rigours of Sydney Airport.

    As you have found out on your return quite a bit has changed in that paradise known as a Liberal government which, allegedly, seems to have been liberal in hoovering up other people’s money.

      And they carry on about corruption in other countries? Oz seems to be doing pretty well in the money in pocket from vested interests department!

        Do believe the conservatives have always been thus. Joh, Askin et al were, allegedly, past masters of these fine arts. These latest ones are mere bunglers.

  2. Welcome back D., and great to have you back! The G.M.’s have been sorely missed for the past 3 weeks – and sorely needed too. As that old graphic from Smith’s Weekly said; ‘Stop laughing, this is serious! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Thanks Ed, you disappeared there for a while. Glad to see that you are back in the commentary mode! ;-))
      Seems I missed a whole lot of NO Coalition disasters whilst away.

      • Thanks D. It’s good to be back in the saddle again. As a fellow ‘tatami rat’ I’m sure you know that sometimes you have to step back for a bit when everyone else is writing about the same thing and coming to the same conclusions (setting out after the enemy but arriving before he does) .
        Can’t say that you really missed out on much except for a plethora of brain-farts from the Brontosaurus of Bullshit -plenty more to come as we head into No-dough Joe’s ‘heavy lifting’ Budget. 🙂
